R4 Robotics is an award-winning, community-based student robotics team. Since 2005, R4 Robotics has competed in the BEST (Boosting Engineering Science Technology) robotics competition winning first place at the New Mexico state championship ten plus times as well as winning the Texas regional competition three times. Our team teaches students about the technology of building robots as well as emphasizing critical project management skills. Those skills include working in a collaborative team environment where ideas and experiments are recorded in a project manual. Students also learn presentation and marketing skills in preparation for competition.
R4 Robotics is more than a robotics team! Our team supports and helps grow STEM education and experiences by hosting STEM camps for students in grades K-12. Many R4 team members act as mentors at these camps. The program has served over 1,000 students in the past six years and is effective for all students from beginner to advanced to those who struggle in traditional classrooms and those who don't. The dynamic learning environment allows for everyone to take part and to build on their personal areas of strength and to discover their own competitive advantage, something that many people struggle their entire lives to find.
