Who Are We? R4 has a long documented history of not only promoting our competitions by reaching out and connecting with our community, but also uniting our community in a variety of ways. We are here to represent the very best of our state, and our connection to it's community is where we get our strength from.

Where Are We? Albuquerque, New Mexico is our home, and we're proud of it. Our pride isn't only in our apparel, but it's also in our spirit at competition. During last year's B.E.S.T. regional competition, we asked all the teams from New Mexico to sit in the same area to show off our colors. In doing so, our state showed more presence than even Texas when cheering.

What Have We Done? R4 has contributed much to the world of STEM in our local area by hosting countless robotics camps. However, we have achieved much more than just that. This past year, R4 was invited to testify in front of the New Mexico House of Representatives Science and Technology Committee where we were able to get legislation pre-filed that would provide one million dollars to support competitive robotics. We have also assisted many teams with their own robots, websites, and programs. This past year, we invited Cleveland High School to make use of our workshop and team members. Even during competitions, we have helped teams develop their programming so their products can compete.

What Are We Planning? Helping our community is a job that never ends, and we're always ready and willing to do it. We are currently beginning the schedule for our Summer robotics camps through Be Greater Than Average. We are also always on the look for new team members or areas that need help starting a team. Inspiration was the start of this team and it remains it's fuel to keep going, so we are constantly looking for ways to inspire others.

STEM Students Learn Lineman LessonsWhat happens when the lights go out? Typically, linemen for the local electric utility go scrambling to fix the problem. In an emergency, speed and safety are paramount concerns in getting the power back on. A group of New Mexico students involved in the “Off the Grid” robotics competition are faced with those parameters in their quest to build a robot that can help linemen in a pinch. Recently, a crew from PNM gave the students a look at some of the dangers they face. R4Creating is the local nonprofit that seeks to inspire students to pursue students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). New Mexico in Focus went along for the demonstration, which helps put students in the middle of a problem and lets them work their way to a solution.
